Wasn't that a wonderful day? I'm still recalling new aspects of it, even three days later. I can't get over
how happy Kurt looks, and no wonder, he has a beautiful family and a big house overlooking Antioch hills, cattle grazing in
the distance and the sun shining into his backyard. Happiness hasn't toned down his gregarious nature, though; he entertained
us with funny stories while we drank his beer, wine and scotch! Thanks to Kurt and his wife for hosting a very successful
party attended by almost 50 people!
Marylou and Robin are the cutest couple. Marylou of course organized this whole thing and made efforts to
keep up with everyone as we moved from place to place over the years. She opened her home to Gigi Garchitorena and sister
and provided the out-of-towners with a ride from downtown SF even though it took her hours out of her way. Robin is now in
sales, with a personality to match. If you imagine Robin as he was in high school, quiet and unassuming, he is now outgoing
and solicitous. I could imagine him in politics one day. Marylou had a crush on Robin way back in grade school and it appears
that fate has somehow brought them together in a reunion entirely their own!
Gigi G. now has long golden hued hair and light eyes, quite an exotic look. She held court, telling people
how she struggled to become a nurse and how she is a strong champion for patients, making sure they get the best care possible.
I had never met Rinna Alcantara (class of 85) before then, but she is friends with a few people in our batch,
and has a wonderful bubbly personality. She admitted having a long-standing crush on Martin Casado, our representative in
US Marines. No wonder, he looks smashing, regal in poise as you would imagine him in uniform. He transported many of us as
he told us stories and showed us pictures of his 8-month tour in Kuwait and Iraq. Martin admitted to having a crush on Sarah
Cantero, who is as cute and as Pot-Pot as ever, still with those dimples and naturally copper skin tone and hair.
Sarah and Linda Teran were up to their old tricks, exchanging name tags so that they could extend the tradition
of people mistaking them for each other. Linda Teran could have stepped right out of the yearbook, but for her stylish clothes
and hair...she is her high school self made-over.
Maru was the day's recorder of memories, videotaping and interviewing people, and handing out name tags, in
case people didn't recognize each other! Maru also still has her deep dimples intact; her wholesome beauty hasn't left her
all these years. Maru also knows a wicked chocolate cake recipe! The wholesome feminine beauty thing also endures with Wendy
Lotuaco from Toronto and DeeDee Durano, who wowed us with a stuffed and baked fish dish and her shiny jet black hair. Tina
Laxa looked sharp in a black pants outfit. Tina and Wendy told stories of culture shock at UP...it was just a little different
environment than we were used to at CSA, apparently. Many could relate.
Gladys Guerrero made an appearance with Babet Nubla, Lilibeth's sister. She also looked like she stepped out
of her gauzy prom dress and into her Audrey Hepburn capris. She showed us pictures of her cute half-Italian kids then had
to run off to host a party at her place that night.
Nelson Ng also attended with his family, although regretfully, I did not have a chance to catch up with him.
James Zapanta is as dashing and handsome as ever, with a dazzling smile. He recruits employees for a living.
Personally, I think he has always had the gift of recognizing talent and works well with people, so it seems like a very natural
fit to me. James recruited Marylou for Robin...talk about a good match!
John Price is in the US Air Force communications, so he handles lots of high-tech equipment. Seeing him with
his very advanced digital camera, you could easily imagine him operating satellite receivers and intercepting enemy transmissions.
If you saw John walking down the street, you would immediately know it was him, as he hasn't changed much. He's still the
big gentle guy you want on your side.
Mike Del Rosario left the batch before we started high school, but everyone remembers him. He talked a lot
about racing cars back then, so naturally he works for Mercedes Benz, making those cars run better and faster. He admitted
to his crush on Christine Jacob, and told us how he didn't just stand there staring at her like everyone else, he actually
did something about it. Mike is still single and a catch, so if any nice single girls out there are interested, better act
quickly!
Exhilarated by each other's company, we ate, talked and laughed for hours. We were fueled by the rays of the
70 degree sun, and the warmth we felt in our hearts having found each other again after so long. This was a day we will remember
and treasure for a long time to come and I want to thank Marylou for giving us this very precious gift. Written

Through all these years, Angelique (Gel) still has some of the same mannerisms she had in high school. Standing
with one hand on her hip as she talks, she is as self-confident and sassy as ever ... with designer digs to match! A New Yorker
and prime example of hip sophistication.
